When they are treated in a biochemical operation for removal of the soluble organic matter, much of the colloidal organic matter is entrapped with the biomass and ultimately converted to stable end products that are resistant to further biological activity.
Grady has many publications to his credit and has received several awards, including the Founders’ Award from Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP), the Harrison Prescott Eddy Medal, the Rudolfs Industrial Waste Management Award and the Industrial Water Quality Lifetime Achievement Award, all from the Water Environment Federation (WEF). He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. Glen T. Daigger, PhD, PE, BCEE, NAE, is a senior vice president and chief technology officer for CH2M HILL, where he has been employed for 31 years.
