E Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong Introduction The aim of this paper is to explore the prospects for objectivity in reasoning strategies in light of a number of empirical studies on how people actually reason, particularly where these studies show that there are systematic culture-based differences in patterns of reasoning.
